My grandfather worked as a carpenter. On one particular day, he was building some crates for the clothes his church had collected to send to orphanages in China. On his way home, he reached into his shirt pocket to find his glasses. They were gone. |

I know some of those who most impacted my life were older saints who just loved me and were examples of godliness. I remember Dr. Emerson, a large, white-haired retired physician who always wore the same suit every week to church. |

A grandparent's blessing is a special event for a child. More than just empty words, a real spiritual blessing can be a powerful milestone in a child's religious development. Nothing brings the generations together in unity like a formal blessing from one generation to the next. |

Last week I took my grandchildren to a restaurant. My six-year-old grandson asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Nana gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!"
