Over the course of the next twelve months, the Olympic torch will pass from hand to hand, moving from country to country on the way to Beijing. “Passing the Torch” is a time-honored expression for the realization that we will not be here forever. We accept the light that someone passes us, we carry it for awhile and when we need to leave off, we pass the torch along to someone else.

What torch did your grandparents light in you? Is it a sage piece of advice? Is it a character trait? Or is it a set of values that you learned from them?

In the coming weeks, CGN will be giving you a place on the web to honor your grandparents by recording their name and the treasure they buried within you. But there IS something you can do today:


Many grandchildren today are in danger of not receiving the same things from their grandparents that we did. Divorce, distance, substance abuse, special needs and absentee parents have changed the dynamic of the family.
