Grandparent with a Purpose
The “Back to School” sales have started and the school bells will be ringing soon for our grandchildren. In some areas, school starts in mid-August
while others not starting until after Labor Day. The beginning of the school year can be an anxious time for the grandchildren with new teachers, new classmates, especially if they are going to a new school setting. They may have to adjust to new coaches, bus drivers, car pools, and other new situations.
A good Bible verse to encourage the grandchildren to memorize as they go back to school is Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.” It will assure them that God is with them when they are afraid or uncomfortable.
Suggestions to pray for the grandchildren in school.
Pray they will . . .
- Be motivated, disciplined, and challenged in their learning experience.
- Desire to do their very best.
- Listen attentively to instruction from their teachers.
- Have a safe, healthy classroom environment.
- Treat others with respect.
- Choose friends who will have a positive influence on them.
- Develop a strong healthy self-esteem and self-confidence.
- Courage to speak biblical truth in the classroom.
- Recognize the deception of worldly thinking.
- Be covered with God’s safekeeping physically, emotionally and spiritually.
- Have a balanced view of their beauty, charm, and strength.
- Learn to be responsible for their actions and behavior.
If you know grandparents whose grandchildren are going back to school, you may want to ask them to join you to start a Grandparents @ Prayer (G@P) group, which is an intercessory prayer group praying for grandchildren.
I have three granddaughters in a Christian school and when I approached the principal about starting a G@P group, he was very pleased. Our group has been meeting for several years now and we plan to meet once each month with the principal again when school starts. Since my husband and I participate in the G@P group at our granddaughter’s school, we feel more involved in their education.
I would like to challenge you to start or join a G@P group in your area. Let us help our grandchildren navigate through the attacks of the enemy by standing in the G@P with prayer for them. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.” As grandparents, what an awesome responsibility we have to be intentional in upholding our grandchildren in pray as they go BACK TO SCHOOL.
Please go to the Prayer link and click on Participate to Pray and request and complete the form and I will be happy to send you information about the Grandparents@Prayer intercessory prayer groups. Please join the many groups meeting through out the United States.
IT IS ONLY 20 MORE DAYS UNTIL GRANDPARENTS DAY OF PRAYER.
