Not on my Watch!

Children and The Father's Heart

“And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them.” Mark 10:16

In the school classroom, the teacher asked Susie to name one important thing we have today that we didn't have ten years ago.  Susie’s enthusiastic reply was, “Me!”  I think the Father would have burst out in boisterous laughter and an enthusiastic “Amen!” upon hearing little Susie’s response.  Children hold a special place in the Father’s heart, and reaching out to the children around us is a reflection of the Father’s heart.

Over the next several weeks our journey will take us through Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 18 about the Father’s heart for the children. Grandparents know the blessing of precious little ones in their lives whom God has given to bless and to represent Christ’s love with authenticity.  Grandparent or not, Jesus has some very poignant things to say to each of us about our responsibility to the children around us who are so precious to the Father’s heart.

FANNING THE FLAME

Last Fall I had the privilege of leading a Christian Legacy Conference for grandparents in Minneapolis.  Below you will find a personal account from Steve and Joyce Washechek who attended a workshop in the conference I led about speaking blessing upon our Father’s precious little ones.  They have given me permission to share their story about what they did as a result of attending that conference.  I pray it will move you to practice the art of blessing your grandchildren in very intentional and specific ways.  Be sure to click here to read their story.
