WELCOME TO 2011

Isn’t it amazing that we have just completed the first decade of the twenty first century?

We may ask ourselves “Where has it gone?” or “What have I accomplished in this decade?” When you look back over the last ten years how have you seen God working in your life and the lives of your children and grandchildren?

God has given grandparents a sacred trust, the opportunity to partner with Him to deliberately pray for our grandchildren to have an undivided heart, protection from the deception of the world and the many distractions of the enemy in our immoral culture.

Just as we make plans for traveling and other activities throughout the year, it would be good for us to have a plan to intentionally influence and pray for our grandchildren.

Ask God how He would have you participate with Him, in accomplishing His plans in the lives of your grandchildren for their spiritual growth.

Christian Grandparenting Network can give you some tools to help in your planning to intentionally pray for your grandchildren.

  1. Download the Scriptures to Pray for your Grandchildren on this website.
  2. Read the new released book Grandparenting with a Purpose: Effective Ways to Pray for your Grandchildren. It is filled with suggestions and available for purchase on this website.
  3. Start a “Grandparents@Prayer” (G@P) group, praying with other grandparents for each other’s grandchildren. For additional information below* and sign up on the on this website for more information
  4. Sign up to receive the weekly Carry the Torch which includes a challenge from Cavin Harper, Executive Director and a monthly devotional and weekly prayer suggestions by Lillian Penner, National Prayer Coordinator.

In Psalms 20:4 we read, “May he (God) give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” Pray that God’s desires will become your desires as you plan to influence your grandchildren’s spiritual growth in 2011.

Think on this: Are your footsteps safe for your grandchildren to follow?

*G@P: Christian Grandparenting Network has a passion to encourage and equip grandparents to pray for their grandchildren. Therefore, we have organized “Grandparents@Prayer” (G@P) intercessory prayer groups. Our goal is to encourage grandparents to be prayer warriors through the personal discipline of intercessory prayer in the battle against the enemy. We encourage grandparents to meet together in small or large groups on a regular basis to unite in prayer at a designated location for 1 hour or so of guided prayer and fellowship.

We now have a number of G@P intercessory groups meeting in Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, and England in retirement centers, schools, churches, and homes. Some of the groups meet weekly, some twice a month or once a month, whatever the group desires.

I want to challenge you to ask God whom He would like you to ask to pray with you for each other’s grandchildren. Ask your friends, church senior group, neighbors, family members or whomever. If you are interested I will be happy to send you helpful guidelines and resources to help you get started, sign up on this website www.christiangrandparenting.net.

We do not know the challenges that lay before us in 2011; however, we do know God has promised to walk with us; we will not be walking alone. His footprints will be right beside us. He does not follow us; He walks beside us.
