The Lights of Christmas

As I was reading Grandma’s Christmas Legacy, The Testimony of the Tree, I was reminded of the twinkling lights we see at Christmas and how God wants us as His children to light the world with His love.

I am sure many of us will be getting our Christmas trees soon, if we haven’t already. It is always a fun family activity to go out in the country to a tree farm and have a family discussion to find the perfectly shaped tree to cut. After we get the tree home, we secure it in the stand and string the lights after we untangle the wires. However, we don’t need to put up with the tangled wires from last year if we have an artificial tree with lights attached.

We love the Christmas lights, illuminating our homes with candles lit on the mantle or the dining room table, providing a beautiful festive atmosphere. Many of us hang outdoor lights on our houses. We enjoy driving around our neighborhoods to see the beautiful twinkling outdoor lights decorating the houses, trees and displays.

As you place the strings of lights on the tree this year and enjoy the beauty of the lights in your home and your neighborhood think about what Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “We are to let our lights shine before men, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven.”

  • How will you illuminate God’s love to your family, friends, and your neighborhood?
  • What good deeds are you going to do this Christmas to glorify God?
  • Pray for your children and grandchildren to stand strong, as a symbol of hope in the world today.
  • Pray they will radiate God’s love and greatness to others.

I would appreciate your comments. Please share how you plan to radiate God’s love to your children and grandchildren during this Christmas season.
