My Grandmother Is Praying For Me Proverbs 14:31

“He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker,
But whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”
Proverbs 14:31

Father, I pray that my grandchild would honor You by
showing compassion and kindness to those in need.
I pray that she would not overlook opportunities to do good,
but would find many ways to reach out and bless others.
Allow him/her the privilege of sharing Your grace and speaking of him/her faith
so that those he/she helps would see You as the source of his/her graciousness
and would give you the glory.

Application:  Make cookies for a shut-in neighbor or nursing home resident.  Help your grandchild deliver them with a note, assuring the shut-in of your love
and prayers. ?

This Prayer suggestion is used by permission from “My Grandmother is. . . praying for me” by Kathryn March, Pamela Ferris, and Susan Kelton. They are three ordinary grandmothers desiring to pray for the next generation to become men and women of strong character and great faith. They have a verse from the Proverbs, a prayer for the verse and an application for each day of the year. I have found the book an excellent resource for praying from my grandchildren, especially for character development. You may order the book from their website:  www.mygrandmotheris.com.

Lost Sheep and My Grandmother is Praying
written by Tanya, April 26, 2010
Dear Lillian,

I had first contacted you a while back to start a local prayer group. Even though I do not have a form group, the Lord has been faithful in bring seasoned godly grandparents around me to gleen wisdom from. By His grace and provision, I hope to soon have a formal grandparents group. You have no idea how this particular article has blessed my heart regarding lost sheep. Also, I can hardly wait to purchase the book,'My Grandmother is Praying for Me'. By God's grace, I now have 2 granddaughters and by the end of this year I will have 2 more grandbabies.

Ten plus years ago, I was 37 years old when I surrendered my heart to the Lord. Before I came to the saving knowledge of Grace, the woman at the well in John 4 reflected who I was. In addition, I have 3 children who were raised in an environment I created by searching for love in the wrong places and trying to do what I thought was right in my own eyes. Needless to say this had a negative impact on the next generation. My children began adulthood heading down a similar destructive path as I had been on. However, I claimed the promise in Acts 2:38-39 'repent... be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit...the promise is for you and your children and those who are far off...' The following is a taste of how the Lord is faithful in keeping this promise:

My youngest daughter became involved in sexual sin with an older man. She became pregnant with my first granddbaby. This man didn't want anything to do with her or the baby. This broke my daughters heart and by God's grace, she sought the Lord. That was 5 plus years ago. Today, she is a new pastor's wife and expecting another baby. My son had picked a fight with a man and went to jail for assault several years ago. Again, by God's grace, my son was brought to the end of himself and he surrendered his heart to the Lord. My son is now a married man busy providing for his wife (no babies, yetsmilies/smiley.gif). My oldest daughter after leaving the army became involved with a young man who was drug addicted. She became pregnant with my 2nd grandbaby. Her fiance and the baby's father took an overdose and died two months ago. She is now pregnant with his second child. She is not walking with the Lord; but, her heart is very tender towards Him and know in His time she too will surrender her heart. Even through the most difficult of all of this, the Lord is showing Himself faithful. I know that He will work all these things for the good because I am called according to His purpose and love Him (Romans 8:28 paraphrased). Please know that the Lord has deeply impressed on me the priviledged responsibility of interceding in prayer and teaching my grandbabies His word.

On top of all this, the Lord has brought into my life several young (teenage) mothers. I didn't want to interfere with what the Lord is trying to do in their lives. However, I know there is a reason why He has brought them into my life. The article on the lost sheep and the Lord's heart for children is further confirmation that He wants me to minister to these young mothers and babies.

Thank you for letting me share. I pray the Lord will continue to inspire you as well.

By His Grace!

This is an all too familiar story. My soon to be ex-daughter-in-law has created what I feel an unhealthy environment as well, by looking for love the wrong places and doing what she thinks is right in her own eyes. This has destroyed her marriage and she does not realize the impact it is having on her 5 children, 2 of which are my natural grandchildren. I continue to pray for her and I will pray all of those children out of Satan's grasp! I love the book "My Grandmother is Praying for Me". Thank you for your story, it gives me added hope for my prayers. I am happy to hear that you have found and accepted God's Grace!
