The other day I was thinking about the grandparents mentioned in the Bible, wondering how they affected the lives of their grandchildren. What were their concerns at that time? Did they pray for their grandchildren? I will list a few of their names for you.

Abraham and Sarah were Jacob’s grandparents

Isaac and Rebecca were Joseph’s grandparents

Jacob and Rachael were Ephraim and Manasseh’s grandparents

Boaz and Ruth were David’s great-grandparents

Enoch was Noah’s great-grandfather

Methuselah was Noah’s grandfather

Lois was Timothy’s grandmother

Our grandchildren may not turn out to be a king like David, but they become like David who was described as a “man after God’s own heart.”  Paul reminds Timothy of the godly influence his grandmother, Lois, had on him (2 Tim. 1:5).

Pray that your grandchildren will have an undivided heart after God and be a godly influence on their generation throughout the world.
